Overview
The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro is a public university open to society and the world. With its goal of creating, transferring and sharing knowledge, promoting scientific dissemination, fostering patent filing and consortia with businesses and institutions, the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro promotes innovation and local and regional development. Through its Schools of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, Science and Technology, Life Sciences and Environment, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Nursing, it offers more than 90 bachelor, master and doctorate degrees.
By choosing teaching and research fields that meet the national needs, the university was also instrumental in the development of the region where it is located, creating jobs and providing courses directed at the needs of the region and its population. UTAD’s 8 Research Centres are entities devoted to continued research, shared science and technology, dissemination of culture and providing specialized services. The research is one of the priority vectors, underpinning the educational offer, in particular for the 3rd cycles, and the teaching quality. The UTAD's vision is anchored in an Eco Campus with an exemplary environmental management, promoting the well-being of its users, and it is a place of good practices in the context of sustainability and eco-efficiency.
